After less than two years in Memphis, I moved down the river to New Orleans. I lived near the Quarter for awhile, on Royal and Franklin, them moved to Poland Avenue in the upper Ninth Ward-the last street before the the Industrial Canal and the lower Ninth.

Behind me is the Annotated Automobile, a $300 Ford LTD I had purchased in Memphis in beat-to-heck condition. Against my better judgement, I let my best friend Lester Sivets talk me into documenting everything that ever happened to the car, on the car, in permanent marker, and believe me, stuff happened to the car. I drove it for over 10 years before retiring it. When people ask if it is still running (it has fans), I let them know it still runs, it just doesn't stop. It needs brakes. It has sat for so long now, it has become a posh possum condo with an 8-track.
